Please Will You Do Something for These Causes?
Want to help your community but not sure how? Here are some local initiatives and projects that we have been made aware of where volunteers and 'Doers' are urgently needed. Perhaps you can pledge to help?
If you have a project that needs support, please let us know and we will feature it here too.
BBC Lincolnshire Life Savers
BBC Lincolnshire is working with the charity, LIVES, to find 400 new volunteers across Lincolnshire to become First Responders. Mablethorpe has been identified as one of the priority areas where a fully staffed First Responder group would have a huge benefit to local people.
First Responders are locally based volunteers who are despatched by the ambulance service control centre, in response to ambulance 999 calls. They attend emergencies including people with chest pains or breathing difficulties.
The chance of surviving a serious cardiac arrest in an area without a First responder Group is less than 5%. Where there is a group, this is increased to 40%. If we can find 10 people from Mablethorpe, we should be able to run a fully staffed group.
